Core Country Builders and Founders Named to Hall

The Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) today named the 2007 Country Music Hall of Fame inductees to be honoured this September during Country Music Week. The 2007 inductees to the Country Music Hall of Fame are: Artist John Allan Cameron, past CCMA Executive Director Sheila Hamilton in the “Builder” category, and Broadcaster Cliff Dumas. All of the inductions, and additional presentations of Awards of Achievement, will takeplace during Country Music Week September 7 - 10 in Regina, Saskatchewan.

The Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame recognizes long-term contribution to the growth and development of Canadian country music. The recipient may be living or deceased but is recognized based on his/her achievements as a Canadian in the country music industry in one of three categories, Artist, Builder, or Broadcaster.

Sheila Hamilton, the past Executive Director of the CCMA, spent most of her career with the Association. She began her relationship with country music in 1975 as Traffic Manager of CFGM, then a powerful radio station serving the country music market in southern Ontario, and was soon made Assistant Producer of Opry North, a popular syndicated radio show organized by CFGM. In 1977 Sheila began to work with the CCMA, handling public relations, maintaining membershipl ists, and working in other administrative areas. Between 1980 and 1988 Sheila maintained her part time position, in addition to working with three major advertising agencies in print and broadcast production. In 1988, she took on the role of assistant to Jack Feeney, Executive Director of the CCMA, and a year later stepped into the role when Jack retired. During her time with the CCMA, Sheila participated in lobbying efforts with various levels of government, developed significant relationships with country music organizations in Nashville and Europe, and was key to much of the planning, execution and growth of the Association’s annual convention Country Music Week. Sheila retired from the CCMA in 2005 but remains connected through her participation on national committees.

You won't find any frozen processed meals in Jackie Fowler's fridge or freezer. It's nothing but fresh foods for her family, even if she's had a busy day.

"My family sits down to dinner every night and we rarely eat out," said Fowler, a personal chef and graduate of Liaison College in Barrie. "I hate buying fast food or frozen boxed food, and I make my sauces and lots of oriental, French and Ukrainian foods from scratch." Fowler is using her new business, Edible Affairs, to help others get pumped about preparing healthier meals.
She isn't the only one. There are many local options popping up to satisfy the taste buds of those looking to dine on healthier fare.

"People want to eat healthier, but for any number of reasons they can't or don't," Fowler said. "What I make is always as fresh and healthy as possible for (clients). "My business is all about good homemade meals that don't have to be complicated," she added. "And clients don't have to lift a finger because I come into their home, spend a few hours making meals in their kitchen, and all they have to do is reheat them all week."

Fowler said her business can be of great help to individuals and families leading busy lives these days. She's noticed that society is all about quick and easy eating rather than taking the time to eat healthier. "Two people working corporate jobs are very busy, and kids have busy schedules after school, too. So, it's hard to find time to eat healthy or even together today," Fowler said. "People have time constraints, but sometimes I think it's laziness, too. Hitting a drive-thru is easier than taking time to cook something at home."
Fowler is hoping to change that by doing the grunt work for clients in exchange for a fee.

The Hair Prosthesis Centre (THPC) is delighted to announce its re-location to
new offices in the Royal Court Medical Centre beside the Royal Victoria Hospital,
effective April 1, 2008.

“A large percentage of our client base comes directly from the hospital,” says
THPC founder and president Joanne Davison. “I’m delighted this move will make it
more convenient for those seeking treatment next door.” After 27 years in business serving clients throughout the GTA, central and northern Ontario, Davison says the new, larger premises will allow her the room she needs to accommodate her ever-growing clientele. It will also allow her to build the internal capacity to prepare for the opening of the Simcoe-Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre, which will further increase the demands on her services.

For hair-loss related to chemotherapy and other medical conditions and treatments, THPC offers full wigs and partial hair systems, artificial scalp systems and an assortment of head wraps. As a cancer-survivor herself and a long-time volunteer with the Look Good Feel Better program, she knows how important hair restoration can be to mental health – especially when dealing with the complexities of cancer treatment.
